Wheatland Counselor: Nancy Roth

Welcome to the Wheatland Counseling Page!

I have been a school counselor for 21 of my 27 years in education. My role as a school counselor is to address the social, emotional, and educational needs of our students. To accomplish this in the Valley Center district, I provide weekly classroom guidance lessons as well as individual and small group counseling.

As part of the K - 12 comprehensive counseling program, my fellow elementary counselors and I teach and implement the Kansas Curricular Standards for School Counseling.  These standards address personal, social and emotional development as well as career exploration and character development. The elementary counselors in USD262 work closely together to be sure all standards are addressed in each of our Elementary Schools.

Students may see the counselor individually by self, parent, teacher, or principal referral, or by counselor invitation.  Parents are notified of small group activities.

I am one piece of the puzzle in partnership with other educators, parents, administration, and the community to provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. When the school and home work together, student academic success can be significantly enhanced.
