The Valley Center Learning Center believes that success
is directly linked to supportive relationships.
Our approach to learning incorporates real life skills
and reaches out to other role models/mentors
in the community to help students be successful
in life and earn their high school diploma.
We accept adult students from both in
and out-of-district.
Our students under 18 must live in the USD 262 school district
and be referred by the high school administration.
EVERY student who plans to attend the Learning Center whether a new student or a returning student MUST fill out this enrollment form. This lets us know your intent and gives us the contact information for you so that we can let you know the next step.

Welcome to The Learning Center
On
behalf of The Learning Center staff, we welcome new and returning students to The Learning Center. The Learning Center is a program designed
for both 9th-12th grade students who have received prior
approval from the Valley Center High School to attend, as well as adult
students who wish to work toward completing the requirements for graduation and
earn their Valley Center High School Diploma.
We
continually celebrate growth and personal learning at the Learning Center! In addition to the academic learning provided
virtually through online software, we also seek to provide deep personal
connections and a family atmosphere.
Students who choose to attend on campus experience additional
opportunities such as the ability to participate in a culinary class, design
personal art work, enjoy participation in town hall meetings, and participate
in field trip opportunities. We also provide support for the social and
emotional well-being of our students through programs such as our “Overcoming
the Odds Summit,” parenting classes, and counseling opportunities. To support students with small children, a special
area is available to provide a safe, quiet space to accommodate playtime, feedings,
diapering, and other essentials for babies while allowing parents to continue
their learning.
The
Learning Center invites all adult students (20-years of age or older and
who are beyond their fifth year graduating cohort) to enroll and work towards
completing credits for graduation. The Learning Center’s certified teachers
understand and support the returning adult student, realizing the motivation,
desire, and dedication these students have for returning to school in search of
a High School Diploma. The enrollment
form can be found on our school webpage at http://www.usd262.net/schools/learning_center.
As mentioned above, 9th-12th grade students must obtain approval from
the Valley Center High School prior to completion of the enrollment form.
All 9-12th grade students must
reside within the Valley Center School District.
The
Valley Center High School enrollment fee schedule applies to all 9-12th grade
Learning Center students. For those qualifying for free and reduced
income guidelines, the reduced fee is $42 and free is $0. An application for free and reduced may be
printed from the USD262.net website or picked up from the Valley Center District
Office. Completed applications should be dropped off or mailed to the district
office: 143 S. Meridian, Valley Center, KS 67147
Adult students are
required to complete the Learning Center enrollment form, submit transcripts
from former attendance centers, and work with TLC staff to design an individual
plan of study leading to a high school diploma.
There is no enrollment fee for adult students as long as a MINIMUM of
one full credit (2 courses) is completed between the beginning of the school
year and June 30th. Failure to complete
one full credit will result in a re-enrollment fee of $100 for the following
year.
Jeff, Shawnna and I are looking forward to your NEW BEGINNING at VC's TLC-Hornet Country! Please contact us at 316-755-7080.
