                       DANGER ZONE TIPS    School Bus.png

Get to the bus stop at least five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Rushing or hurrying at the last minute down the street greatly increases the risk of accident or injury for the student. Never run to the bus stop or run to catch the bus.

When the bus approaches, stand at least three giant steps (6 feet) away from the curb, and line up away from the street.

Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says that it's okay before stepping onto the bus.

If you have to cross the street in front of the bus, walk at least five giant steps (10 feet) ahead of the bus before you cross. Don’t cross until the bus driver can see you, and you can see the bus driver.

Use the handrails when boarding or exiting the bus. Be careful that clothing, and book bags with straps don't get caught in the handrails or doors.

    Never walk behind the bus.

Walk at least three giant steps away from the side of the bus.

If you drop something near the bus, tell the bus driver. Never try to pick it up because the driver may not be able to see you.

                   Riding Procedures   School Bus.png

1.Students may be required to walk a short distance to the bus stop.

    2. Passengers should report to the bus stop 5 minutes prior to the scheduled stop time.  Schedules should normally be consistent, within a minute or two once the route gets established. There will be a few exceptions: the first week of school while routes are being finalized, when a substitute driver is driving, unforeseen traffic delays, and/or inclement weather conditions.

    3. “Honk service” or “door to door” "call service" is not feasible. If the student is not at the stop at the scheduled time, the bus must continue on the route to stay on schedule. We will not wait on students who are not at the stop at the scheduled time.  Students that do not ride for 5 consecutive days may be removed from the route.

    4. When boarding the bus, students should move immediately to their assigned seat. Students should be alert and prepared to depart the bus at the appropriate stop, causing no delay. No sleeping on the bus. The bus driver shall assign seats for the purpose of maintaining passenger control, to aid substitute drivers in student identification, and reasonable administrative purposes.

    5. In case of a bus accident or breakdown, passengers should be orderly and follow the directions of the bus driver.

    6. Students wanting to ride on a bus other than their assigned bus must obtain a BUS PASS from the school office signed by the school principal or designee.

    7. Students cannot get off the bus at any stop but their assigned bus stop without written permission from the parent and/or the school principal.

    8. Certain activities or items are not allowed on the bus, including, but not limited to, eating, drinking, animals of any kind (including show & tell days), or glass containers.

    9. Parents and students are responsible for the cost of repairs for damaged bus property caused by the students.
